Panic Symptoms

Panic symptoms are the characteristic signs and complaints that occur during a panic attack. These symptoms can be very frightening and are often mistakenly perceived as life-threatening conditions.

If at least four of the following symptoms occur together, and no physical illnesses are present, a panic attack can be inferred:

  • Heart palpitations / Racing heart
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Nausea
  • Hot flashes / Chills
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Feelings of unreality
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sensation of choking / Dry mouth
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Feeling detached from the body
  • Wobbly legs
  • Sweating
  • Trembling
  • Stomach issues
  • Fear of losing control / Going crazy
  • Fear of dying
