Delusion
Delusions are alterations of reality awareness and disturbances in thinking, usually resulting from a mental illness. In this case, the environment is misinterpreted. Often, those affected feel persecuted and believe they see hidden messages in the environment (e.g., signs from aliens). For those affected, their interpretation of the environment represents reality, from which they are unable to deviate.
