How do I get Mindable as an app on prescription?
Mindable is a digital health application (DiGA) that is prescribed by doctors and therapists as an app on prescription. Public health insurers cover the costs – without any co-payment from you. Some private health insurances also cover the costs for Mindable.
A DiGA is a medical device whose main function is based on digital technologies. In the case of Mindable, this main function is the treatment of agoraphobia and/or panic disorder. Mindable is subject to strict quality and safety requirements. These have been tested by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and found to be safe. Therefore it is possible to get Mindable prescribed like a medicine on prescription. How the process from prescription to the start of your treatment looks like we show you here:
- Statutory insured
- Privately insured
Prescription or doctor's letter received
Prescription or doctor's letter from doctor or therapist
Make an appointment with your doctor or therapist and get a prescription or doctor’s note for Mindable.
Doctor's letter through telemedicine provider
Alternatively, you can get a doctor’s letter confirming your diagnosis via video consultation through a telehealth provider.
Submit prescription/doctor's letter to health insurance company
Submit your prescription or doctor’s letter online or by mail to your health insurance company – not at the pharmacy!
Within a few working days you will receive an activation code from your health insurance.
If you already have a diagnosis, you can simply request an activation code directly from your health insurance company. To get to the right department, tell your health insurance company that you want to use the “Mindable digital health application”.
As a privately insured person, you initially pay for Mindable yourself. Some private health insurers already reimburse digital health applications. It’s best to contact your health insurer directly for more information.
Submit invoice to private health insurance
Then submit the invoice to your health insurance company. It is best to ask beforehand whether your health insurance company reimburses Mindable.
